2017 Summer Programs

Overview

Our program is located at the Windsor Discovery Center & Montessori School in the Milo W. Peck building. It has a large gym and numerous large classrooms that facilitate grouping of children by age and interest. There are two fenced in playscapes, a soccer field, and 44 acres of wooded areas and nature trails including a ropes challenge course. We offer summer programs for children 18 months to 12 years old.

Spaces for our Summer Programs are limited, however, we are still accepting registration forms. If space for that certain week is full, your child will be placed on a wait list. Please contact us for more information and we would be happy to help!  Enroll your child now!

 

Toddler Montessori Summer Program

The eight-week theme based toddler Montessori summer program is designed for children 18 to 36 months of age.  This a 1/2 day program from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm, Monday through Friday from June 19th through August 11th. This program is available in 1 week increments with only 8 spots available each week. This toddler program includes a different theme every week with different focus areas including Treasure Island, Gardens, Food, Construction, Art, Sports, Animals and Beach. Weather permitting, the summer program will also be engaged with water play each week.

Cost: $165 Per week

Preschool Summer Program

The Preschool summer program is a recreational and educational based program revolving around weekly themes for children ages 3-4 and fully potty trained. The program will operate from June 19th through August 18th and will have two types of options; Monday through Friday for a full day, 6:45am-5:30pm, or Monday through Friday for a half day 8:30am- 12:00pm. The summer enrollment is available in one-week increments.  The themes for the Preschool Summer Program are; Snap-Crackle-Pop, How does our garden grow?, Red, White and Blue, Deep Sea Dive, Construction, Ooey Gooey Concoctions, Artist Study and Transportation. Weather permitting, the summer program will also be engaged with water play each week.

Cost: 1/2 day $145 per week, Full day $270 per week

Elementary Summer Programs

The nine-week theme based elementary summer programs are specifically designed for children entering Kindergarten through 7th grade.  The programs are divided into three groups, Kindergarten-First Grades, Second-Fourth Grades and Fifth-Seventh grades. The programs will operate from June 19th through August 18th, Monday through Friday from 8:30am- 4:30pm. Extended hours are also available from 6:45am- 5:30pm. Parents have the option of signing up for any number of weeks.

All of these programs will travel to a Windsor Community Pool (2-3 days per week), as well as weekly field trips. Our programs are theme based with loads of activities based on the children’s interests.

Cost per week:

  • Full Day Option (8:30am- 4:30pm) $215 Plus cost of weekly field trip
  • Extended Day Option (6:45am- 5:30pm) $235 Plus cost of weekly field trip

Kindergarten & 1st Graders Summer Program

The K-1 Summer program is available for children ages 5 and 6. Each week will consist of a different theme including; Summer is Here!, Science Exploration, America the Beautiful, Nutrition Adventure, Put Your Chef Hat On!, Nurture, Nature and Animals, Let The Games Begin!, All Aboard! and Ahoy Mae-tee!

2nd Through 4th Graders Summer Program

The 2nd-4th Summer program is available for children ages 7-9. The program will have a literary theme each week and will connect age appropriate daily activities to a weekly field trip. We will balance structure and unstructured times during the day, including quiet/summer reading packet session in the afternoon. It’s A Magic School Bus (STEM) will be the literacy series for the summer program. Each week will be broken down and focus on a different theme including; …in the time of the dinosaurs, …inside a hurricane, …ups and downs, …takes flight, …hops home, …wet all over, …get ready, set, dough, …and the electric field trip and …inside the Earth.

5th Through 7th Graders Summer Program

This program is available for children ages 10-12 and will also have weekly themes including; Survivor, Wacky Water Works, Party In The U.S.A., Amazing Race, Fun And Fitness, Backyard Bash, Messy Olympics, You’ve Got Talent and Celebrate Good Times. The 5th-7th Program will additionally have archery and community service projects throughout the summer. This summer program will also have weekly field trips for an additional fee.

Additional Information

-All Summer Programs will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th.

-Please return the registration form with the weeks of attendance indicated.

-A deposit of one week’s tuition is due upon registration.

-All summer program fees must be paid on the first day of each program start week.

-Each summer program will have a maximum capacity of 20 children per program, unless specifically noted. Spaces are limited and will be on a first come basis.

-Every family is required to pay a $25 registration fee per child.

-Every child must have a current yearly physical with a copy of the updated information sent to us with their registration information.
