2018 Summer Programs

June 18, 2018 – August 17, 2018 (Closed 4th of July)

Our program is located at the Windsor Discovery Center & Montessori School in the Milo W. Peck building. It has a large gym and numerous large classrooms that facilitate grouping of children by age and interest. There are two fenced in playscapes, a soccer field, and 44 acres of wooded areas and nature trails including a ropes challenge course. We offer summer programs for children 18 months to 10 years old. Elementary programs available for children entering Kindergarten through fifth grade.

Toddler Montessori Summer Program

The toddler Montessori summer program is designed for children 18 to 36 months of age.  This 1/2 day program will run from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm, Monday through Friday in two-week sessions from June 19th through August 10th. Please understand there are only 8 spots available each session. This toddler program includes a different theme every session with different focus areas music; creative arts; cooking; and outdoor adventures. Weather permitting, the summer program will also be engaged in water play at every opportunity.

SESSION 1 June 18 – June 29, 2018 (Theme: Science Magic)

SESSION 2 July 2-13, 2018 (Theme: When I Grow Up)

SESSION 3 July 16-27, 2018 (Theme: Construction)

 SESSION 4 July 30 – August 10, 2018

(Theme: A Trip Around the World)

Preschool Summer Program

The Preschool summer program is a recreational and educational based program revolving around weekly themes for children ages 3-4 and fully potty trained. The program will operate from June 19th through August 18th and will have two types of options; Monday through Friday for a full day, 6:45am-5: 30 pm, or Monday through Friday for a half day 8:30 am- 12:00 pm. The summer enrollment is available in one-week increments.  The program will participate in a  varierty of internal and external fieldtrips.  Weather permitting, the children will engaged in water play each week.

COST:

  • 1/2 day $150 per week (8:30 am – 12:00 pm)
  • Full day $275 per week (6:45 am – 5:30 pm)

Registration for this program will be open to the community March 19, 2018.

 

 

Elementary Summer Programs

The nine-week theme based elementary summer programs are specifically designed for children entering Kindergarten through 5th grade.  The programs are divided into three groups, Kindergarten-First Grades, Second-Third Grades and Fourth – Fifth grades. The programs will operate from June 18th through August 17th, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am- 4:30 pm.  Extended hours are also available from 6:45 am- 5:30 pm. Parents have the option of signing up for any number of weeks.

All of these programs will travel to a Windsor Community Pool (2-3 days per week), as well as weekly field trips. Our programs are theme based with loads of activities based on the children’s interests.

Cost per week:

  • Full Day Option (8:30am- 4:30pm) $215 Plus $12.00 weekly field trip fee
  • Extended Day Option (6:45am- 5:30pm) $235 Plus $12.00 weekly field trip fee

Additional Information

  • All Summer Programs will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th.
  • Please return the registration form with the weeks of attendance indicated.
  • A deposit of one week’s tuition and the field trip fees in separate checks due upon registration.
  • All summer program fees must be paid on the first day of each program start week.
  • Each summer program will have a maximum capacity of 20 children per group unless specifically noted. Spaces are limited and will be on a first come basis.
  • Every family is required to pay a $25 registration fee per child.
  • Every child must have a current yearly physical with a copy of the updated information sent to us with their registration information.
  • Field-Trip fees for the Elementary Summer program is collected inadvace the cost is $12.00 per week.
  • All summer program children need a completed authorization for sunscreen and bug spray containing DEET.

Kindergarten & First Graders

Children must be 5 Years of age to attend this program.

The K-1 Summer program is available for children ages 5 and 6.

Each week will consist of a different theme including; Pirates,  Sports, Science Exploration, Happy Birthday America, Cooking, Nature, Animals-Land, and Sea,  and final week for a Summer Celebration!

Weekly Themes    

2nd Through 3rd Graders Summer Program

The 2nd-3rd grade Summer program is available for children ages 7-8.

The program will have a literary theme each week and will connect age-appropriate daily activities to a weekly field trip. We will balance structure and unstructured times during the day, including quiet/summer reading packet session in the afternoon.

The Magic Tree House will be the literacy series for the summer program. Each week will be broken down and focus on a different theme including; … Dolphins at Daybreak, Hour of the Olympics, Tonight on the Titanic, Buffalo Before Breakfast,  Tigers at Twilight, Dingoes at Dinnertime, Revolutionary War on Wednesday, Civil War on Sunday, and Polar Bears Past Bedtime.

Weekly Themes    

4th through 5th Graders

This program is available for children ages 9-10 and will also have weekly themes developed by the children with the teacher.

Some examples are Survivor, Wacky Water Works, Party In The U.S.A., Amazing Race, Fun And Fitness, Backyard Bash, Messy Olympics, You’ve Got Talent and Celebrate Good Times. The 4th-5th Program will additionally have archery and community service projects throughout the summer. This summer program will also have weekly field trips for an additional fee.
